Abstract
This paper deals with the activities of the Serbian educational society Prosvjeta in Stolac in the time špan between the two World Wars. It is evident that Prosvjeta in Stolac at the time mostly worked on the education of Serbian rural population, especially through awarding scholarships to talented students who were sent to school to other places. Through the permanent education, Prosvjeta was trying to put stress on the recognition of Serbian cultural values in Bosnia-Herzegovin as one of its key objectives, even though the intensity of these activities was declining towards the beginning of the World War I.
