Abstract

Correct interpretation of grammatical characteristics of phrasemes is a very important segment in the process of studying a foreign language. The primary aim of this paper is to analyze grammatical characteristics of verbal somatic phrasemes in modern Turkish language. The analysis is based on concrete examples from short stories, literary and scientific texts written in Turkish language. The analysis is divided into three parts. The first part analyzes grammatical characteristics of verbal somatic phrasemes where both components can be modified. The second part analyzes the grammatical structure of verbal somatic phrasemes with a stable somatic component which cannot be modified, while the third part analyzes verbal somatic phrasemes where the verbal component is always the third-person singular. The analysis also discusses the semantically similar syntactic structures in Bosnian language. The results obtained from the analysis should contribute to phraseological research of Turkish and Bosnian language.
