A Contribution to the History of Dervish Orders in Southeast Europe

Abstract

This paper attempts to provide more historical data on the Dervish monasteries, tekkis, in the SE Europe, compensating in that way for oversights of earlier researchers. Dervish orders became interesting for research in the ninth decade of the 20th century in France, Germany and Turkey. This research followed the two lineš: States with historical data on Dervish orders (Bosnia & Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Bulgaria, ex Soviet States) and the States of their immigration (Western Europe, US, Canada, Australia).
